Why good design is "invisible"

Bad design isn't just ugly, it adds micro-annoyances that interrupt our daily lives.

I always notice an office chair that isn't comfortable compared to a good one.

The fingerprint reader on my Pixel 7's screen always takes a few tries, but my old Pixel 4a's fingerprint sensor on the back could get it right on the first try.

I found out that a free water bottle I got has a tendency to leak when placed on its side in my backpack, but my Embrava water bottle has never leaked.

"Good design is actually a lot harder to notice than poor design, in part because good designs fit our needs so well that the design is invisible."
