There are thousands of blank journals with artistic covers sold on Amazon.
Anyone who can navigate through Canva can design and sell one, but yours might not sell as well as some clickbaity Youtubers make you believe.
Part of the reason why is because it's hard to spread the word and to convince people to choose yours over the other ones. And because it’s hard to design for good differentiation within a subniche of blank journals. But, the biggest reason is: it's easy to make one.
Whenever something is easy to produce and publish, a lot of bad versions get created. This is true for anything with a lower barrier of effort: TikToks, art, emails, blogs, food or music.
On the flip side, there are more good ones available, too. Improving quality isn't only reliant on how easy something suddenly is to do. What's more necessary are the people willing to put in the extra effort to make it special.
